October 2007
Visit from Armed Combat and Tactics (ACT).
During the last week in October members from Armed Combat and Tactics, lead by their Chief instructor Alexander Zhelezniak, from Israel were in the UK. During the week they spent time with Chapter Masters Daniel Smith, Leeds, Duncan McEvoy, Liverpool and Jonathan Waller, Guild Senior Teacher and Secretary.
They were very open about their approach, which while different in some aspects to that of the Guild, has many similarities and a philosophy that emphasises developing a personal understanding of body and weapon mechanics before going back and looking at the Manuals and other period sources.
They were full of praise for the Guild members they had met and the approach of the Guild in general, especially our lack of dogma and our openness to what they do which they found refreshing and rewarding.
They were good people with a serious interest in proper training with solid goals. We look forward to maintaining links with them in the future.
